Jason started Lighthouse Kennels in 1996 and have been an enthusiastic dog trainer since falling in love with Spaniels in 1990. He is very well recognized in the Field Trial world with many accomplishments in America and Canada including a National Championship win to go along with numerous other National placements. He has trained and handled a National High Point Puppy, a National High Point Open dog, and 11 Mid-West High Point Open dogs. He has twice received the Hogan Award for the top American professional Springer Spaniel Handler. He has judged many weekend trials and is most proud to have been selected to judge 7 different National Championships between American and Canada. He has had a hand in the training of countless Field Trial Champions as well as many advanced Hunt Test titled dogs. But at the end of the day he loves bird hunting with a well-trained dog and his goal in life is to help others share that joy.
Kaye has trained and raised American Cockers since 2002 for both field and indoor events. She got her first working English Cocker in 2016 and has been quite successful with him in field trials. She is a sought after hunt test judge and has judged throughout the country. Kaye is a professional dog trainer working with Cockers and Springers for hunting and field trials as well as other hunting breeds for Hunt Tests. She focuses on positive conditioning using the dogs natural instincts and a variety of behavior focus tools to help them succeed as part of a team. Kaye has competed and successfully trained a wide range of dogs for obedience, rally, agility, conformation and most recently started training a Labrador as a service dog. She was a dog training instructor for the Sheboygan dog training club and for Sheboygan county’s 4-H dog training program for 10 years. Kaye is a licensed nurse who now uses those skills for puppy whelping, raising and vetting. She is a professional dog groomer and does take appointments upon request, and in her spare time does most of the office work.
Zara has been part of the kennel since 2018. She is amazing at general dog care along with puppy development including retrieving work and healing. The dogs love her calm demeanor and steady approach combined with enthusiastic cheer-leading. Lighthouse is very fortunate and thankful to have her.
